Angelina Rose Hoekstra has worked in a restoration studio for over six years, honing her skills and deepening her understanding of materials and technique. Prior to her work in the restoration studio, she spent a number of years working on commissions for others while developing her own series of paintings.

Her personal work emerges from moments in her life when light shining in the darkness compelled her and asked to be translated onto canvas. Her paintings remain true to feeling rather than form, capturing impressions of peaceful nighttime drives and quiet evenings in the countryside, exploring how color shifts under the subtle glow of limited light.

Each of us will walk through our own dark night. Hoekstra’s work wants to remind you, to seek out the light on your path, then pause to watch how it dances, how the colors behave when the suns consistency is not there. In doing so one can find beauty in the endless flow between the light and darkness around us.
